Everybody wants to save money.
That’s especially true when taking a vacation.
That extra cash can be used to enjoy your time away from home.
In view of that, what is the best time to book an all-inclusive vacation to Jamaica to make your money stretch?
The best time to book an all-inclusive vacation to Jamaica is between September and October. Also, keep these points in mind while booking your Jamaican vacation:
- Book last minute if your dates are flexible
- Book early if your travel dates are fixed. You’ll be able to make adjustments if prices drop later
- Book early if you have a specific resort you would like to stay at to avoid the resort being sold out
- Do not fly in July or August. Airfare in the summer is extremely expensive
- February is the cheapest month to fly to get the best price on airfare
- Resort prices are usually cheaper in the fall between September and October because the summer rush is over
You’ll want to make sure you can enjoy your time on your all-inclusive vacation to Jamaica.
To help you, here are a few questions we will be answering in this article:

What Good Jamaican Restaurants are in Montego Bay?
Because you’ll be staying at an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica, all your meals can be enjoyed at your resort without the need to go off-premise.
While you’re on vacation, likely you will go on an excursion or tour the area.
And since you’re in Jamaica, there’s no sense in not enjoying authentic Jamaican food.
We’ve come up with a list that is by no means exhaustive of places we think you’ll want to try before leaving Montego Bay.
Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records
Since you’ll be in Jamaica, you have to stop in at the restaurant owned by the fastest man alive.
Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records promises to give you that ‘taste of home’ Jamaican flavor that the world has come to adore.
There are traditional dishes like The Jerk Platter that comes complete with jerk pork, jerk chicken, hardo bread, fried plantain, festival and coleslaw.
If you have a taste for seafood, try the Curried Seafood.
It’s a crockpot dish containing shrimp, scallops and fish in an island curry with white rice, tostones, mango chutney and a side salad.
And to get you warmed up for the Curried Seafood, order the Swims Galore appetizer.
It’s 12 pieces of shrimp prepared three different ways: jerk grilled shrimp, pepper shrimp, coconut & cassava-crusted shrimp with pineapple ginger sweet & sour sauce.
Marguerites
Marguerites is where you want to go for that special occasion – to celebrate a promotion or an anniversary.
And it’s the perfect place for a wedding proposal.
Soak in the sunset overlooking the seaside while you wait for your Goat Cheese Salad with bacon, chevre and mango vinaigrette while your dining partner orders their Char-grilled Long Cay Calamari complete with extra virgin olive oil, garlic, citrus and Caribbean salsa for starters.
By the time your Pan Scallops entrée arrives prepared with bacon, wine herb cream, tomato salad and garlic potatoes, your guest may be salivating over their Treasure Cay Seafood entrée.
With Caribbean seafood, coconut lime cream and penne pasta, how could you go wrong?
We do highly suggest you make reservations. Marguerites has been around since 1956.
So don’t be surprised if you see actors and entertainers from around the world sitting right next to you.
Pier 1
Pier 1 is an “open-air restaurant, bar and unique entertainment centre” that’s not as formal as Marguerites but still allows you to dress up and enjoy a night on the town.
You overlook the bay while you enjoy the music and nightlife only found in Jamaica.
The menu has reasonable prices for the unique and delicious items.
How about this?
Start with Queen Conch Cakes, Saltfish Fritters, and Crispy Calamari Rings.
And you’ve got to order the Seafood Chowder.
Because it’s not your average seafood chowder.
It’s filled with chunks of lobster, conch, shrimp, mussels, fish, clams and calamari.
With all that seafood, you might not have room for the entrée.
Speaking of entrees, there is so much selection, you might have a hard time deciding.
Pier 1 has everything from braised oxtail, seafood megapot (“mega” because it has lobster, crab legs, shrimp, mussels, clams, potatoes & corn on the cob), specialty burgers, sandwiches and wraps with a Jamaican twist, and seafood galore: curry shrimp, blackened salmon filet, citrus grilled lobster tail, Chef Bullings “Drunken Fish” or my favorite, Seafood Pasta (chunks of juicy lobster, shrimp, calamari, mussels & clams tossed in a white cream sauce & served over penne pasta with warm garlic toast & salad).
Pier 1 another establishment you’ll want to make reservations for. As you can probably tell, it’s a very popular spot.
Smokeez by the Sea
Sometimes on your vacation in Montego Bay, you’ll just want to relax and enjoy some authentic Jamaican food in your flip-flops.
That’s when you go to Smokeez by the Sea.
Here, you’re going to enjoy authentic Jamaican food.
It’s open for lunch and dinner.
So there will be plenty of time to sit back and relax.
You can get your conch grilled, curried or foil roasted.
If you like fish, that can be prepared steamed, fried or foil roasted.
And since you’re in Jamaica, you’ve got to get grilled lobster.
And of course, there’s jerk chicken and pork ribs.
